Saddle Fit and Evaluation

Tack Evaluation

Karin will first review your horse's shape without tack.  Then she will closely observe as you saddle up and ride using your equipment. She will evaluate your saddle fit checking for pressure points. If the saddle does not fit correctly she may refit your saddle with an "Ugly Pad" and shim where it is needed. You will then ride the horse to get the new "feel".  You may purchase Ugly Pads or shims and Karin will advise how and when you should use them for the best results!

Home Saddle Fit Guide

A.  Make sure saddle sits level if not slightly higher in front.

B.  Check and make sure your hand can move around the top of the shoulder blade especially back half of shoulder blade.

C.  The girth should sit no more than three inches from elbow.

You should do this every time you ride. Your horse’s back changes from month to month depending on how much it is worked, weight changes, and muscle development.
